# Legacy Whitechain L1 background and vision

> The original mission, guiding principles, and Builders Program behind the legacy Whitechain Layer 1 blockchain before its migration to an OP Stack L2.

It is a separate chain from the Whitechain Layer 2 (L2) documented in the rest of these docs, and it migrates to the L2 at L2 Mainnet launch. ## Builders Program

The Whitechain Foundation Builders Program supports developers building on the platform with financial, technical, and marketing support. It opens access to WhiteBIT ecosystem products and to a path toward token listing. The program exists to remove the practical blockers developers hit when they ship on a new chain.

Applications are open to teams building decentralized applications or other blockchain solutions on Whitechain.
